The Regional Bioeconomy Hub – Plovdiv actively participated in the Regional Business Conference Plovdiv 2026, organized by Lider.BG and Trakia Economic Zone, one of the region’s most significant events dedicated to business and investment. The Hub was represented by its Chair, Prof. Petar Borisov, and Administrative Coordinator Daniela Gozmanova, who presented the organization’s mission, objectives, and ongoing activities to visitors. Within the exhibition area, they held a number of meetings with representatives of businesses and institutions, actively highlighting the role of the bioeconomy in fostering innovation and regional development.
The event was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Vladislav Popov, initiator of the establishment of the Association “Regional Bioeconomy Hub – Plovdiv” and current Governor of Plovdiv Region, who officially welcomed the participants to the forum. In his address, Prof. Popov emphasized that Plovdiv is a strong example of how regions are no longer peripheral, but are increasingly becoming centers where industry, manufacturing, logistics, and a significant share of the country’s strategic investments are concentrated. The Governor also stressed the need to create favorable conditions for the development of businesses operating in the fields of bioeconomy and innovation, which will be crucial to the region’s competitiveness in the coming years—particularly against the backdrop of a rapidly changing global economic and geopolitical environment.

The conference attracted strong institutional participation, including representatives of the Bulgarian Investment Agency, the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bulgarian-Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and other organizations that play an important role in the country’s economic ecosystem. The forum was held in strategic partnership with Trakia Economic Zone – the largest public-private industrial zone in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe, and a symbol of modern industry and effective cooperation between business and institutions. The program covered key topics such as investment, innovation, and sustainable development, with a focus on investment attraction trends, the role of technology, and the need for a stable business environment.
The participation of the Regional Bioeconomy Hub – Plovdiv reaffirms our commitment to being an active participant in the dialogue between business, institutions, and the scientific community, and to contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
